UK Threat Level: Is Your Site Security Ready?

The UK’s national terrorism threat level is currently SEVERE, meaning an attack is assessed as highly likely.

Threat levels can change, but the message for businesses and organisations clear: review the security measures protecting your people, buildings and assets.

Access control matters just as much. Visitors arriving on foot or in a vehicle should be approached professionally, their identity and purpose confirmed, and access granted only in line with site rules.

Staff should know how to challenge an unexpected visitor safely and who to contact if something does not seem right.

A higher national threat level does not mean every site faces a specific threat. It is a timely reason to check that your security arrangements are clear, understood and consistently followed.

MI5 advises organisations seeking protective security guidance to consult the National Protective Security Authority or Protect UK.
